Kate Middleton has stood by Prince Harry over the years, even trying to reunite him with his estranged brother Prince William.
The Princess of Wales shared a strong bond with her brother-in-law and tried to ease tensions when Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals in 2020. It's believed Kate even defended the Duke of Sussex following the release of his tell-all memoir, Spare.
Kate grew up in a tight-knit family and hated to see her husband fighting with his brother. However, that all changed when a "final break" happened and Kate finally turned her back on Harry.

In May 2025, Harry sat down for an interview with the BBC and said he wanted to make things right with the royals as he didn't "know how much longer my father has."
King Charles was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer in February 2024 and is still undergoing treatment for it.

Royal expert Christopher Andersen told Fox News Digital, "The final straw came really shortly after the king was diagnosed with cancer, when Harry said, 'I'd like to mend fences because we just don't know how long [my father] has to live.'

"Well, that kind of statement can be very hurtful to somebody who doesn't really want to consider their own mortality and is battling cancer." Indeed, Kate has also had her own cancer battles.
The mom-of-three was diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer in January 2024. She underwent treatment and announced she was in remission from cancer on January 14, 2025.
Christopher said it wasn't just Kate's experience with cancer that led to Harry's comments being the final straw.
He explained, "It just ignited this firestorm of speculation about how sick the king really was at this point. And Kate pretty much felt that would be it. She wasn't going to try anymore. So she has not."
As a result of Kate finally turning her back on Harry, the royal expert has said there has been no opportunity for the Duke of Sussex to mend his relationship with his family.
Anderson even suggested we may never see Harry "make amends" with the royal family, adding, "At least it's not on the horizon now."
Before Kate decided to give up on Harry, the pair shared a close bond, with the Duke of Sussex even previously describing her as the sister he had never had. Indeed, Anderson suggested the pair "made each other laugh" and said it was a "very warm and loving relationship for a long time."
