New report reveals why Steelers mysteriously fired coach for ‘violation of club policy’
As the NFL world scrambled to decipher the Pittsburgh Steelers' mysterious motive behind firing one of the newest members of Mike McCarthy's staff over a violation of club policy, a new report from ESPN's Brooke Pryor has provided some insight on the situation.
According to Pryor, the Steelers, per a team source, indicated that special teams assistant Derius Swinton II was "dismissed due to workplace misconduct." Pryor added that Swinton "did not return a request for comment."
Beginning his coaching career as a member of the then-St. Louis Rams staff in 2009, Swinton would go on to have stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders in a special teams coaching capacity.
