Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will debut at Universal Studios Florida in 2027
The new attraction will fill the land formerly occupied by the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
Buckle up, because Universal Orlando Resort is officially shifting into high gear with an all-new Fast & Furious roller coaster.On Tuesday, Jan. 20, park officials announced they are bringing Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift to Universal Studios Florida in 2027. This new āhigh-octane roller coasterā promises to āput guests in the driver seat of the high-speed thrills of Universal Picturesā Fast & Furious universe like never before,ā according to a press release.Riders will experience 360-degree drifting as the coaster speeds through intense hills and dips ā including a 170-foot vertical āspikeā that sends riders nearly 17 stories in the air over top the outskirts of Universal CityWalk.

This isnāt the only Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift attraction currently in development. Over at Universal Studios Hollywood, the park is getting its own version of the outdoor roller coaster.
Initially announced in May 2024, the West Coast version is set to launch in 2026. While a specific opening date has yet to be announced, the park shared a first look at the attraction back in June.
The park shared a video that included a rendering of the new ride, beginning with a close-up at the ride vehicle ā Dominic Torettoās Dodge Charger. It also demonstrated how the vehicles will turn to create a drifting sensation, all while following the coasterās 4,100 feet of track.
According to Deadline, the new coaster will be the fastest in Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio, reaching speeds of 72 mph.

The rides take inspiration from the Fast & Furious film saga. Over 20 years in the making, the franchise has earned more than $7 billion at the box office worldwide. The movies follow Brian OāConner (Paul Walker), an undercover police officer, as he investigates the world of street racing, believed to be led by Toretto (Vin Diesel).
To make way for this new attraction in Florida, Universal will permanently close Fast & Furious ā Supercharged in 2027.
The new ride will fill the space formerly occupied by Universalās Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster. The steel attraction thrilled guests for 16 years before it closed permanently on Aug. 17, 2025.

The roller coaster first opened on Aug. 9, 2009, and stood at 161 feet tall and 3,200 feet long. At the time, it was the largest X-car model coaster by the German manufacturer Maurer Sohne in existence.
The attraction was unique in that guests could select one of five songs to listen to while riding. The songs have rotated over the years, but most recently the selections were "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance, "Waterloo" by ABBA "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" by Shania Twain, "Humble" by Kendrick Lamar, or "Sandstorm" by Darude.
